As a Private in the U.S. Army, I was recruited to be a member of the White House Communications Agency. I arrived in Washington D.C. in March of 1989 and travelled extensively in support of "The Boss" for most of his term. I missed meeting President Bush by 8 minutes as I left my shift from Room 015 in the OEOB. I have been frustrated ever since that I missed that oppurtunity. jump on your "85th", I was reminded of our meeting on February 15, 1995 at the Bob Hope golf tournament in Palm Springs. Your golf ball bounced off a palm tree and hit
my forehead. As I was flat on my back (spectators insisted since this was a head injury and blood was flowing), I remember you held my hand and apologized. I watched an interview with you recently in which you stated that you would skydive on your 85th birthday to demonstrate that 85 can still be active, engaged and alive. (pardon my paraphrasing). As I watched you touch down today I was once again inspired. As a youngster in my late 50's I connected to your mission. I felt an exhilaration at your accomplishment.
